I was diagnosed as Attention Deficit Disorder as a child, but the ADD label never sat right with me, and in the 90s it was being applied to everyone. I picked up this book because I had seen a couple books by Doreen Virtue in the New Age section at my Barnes and Nobles, and this seemed like a good one to start with. Changing the world through our determination and standing up for our little people is motivation beyond anything else I can think of. It's hard work, as parents we need to be at our absolute best to see the blessings in the path to raising an Indigo child. Lets change the world by lovingly guiding our little people, honouring their presence and divine gifts. Lets change the world by following our hearts and not the societal norms that limit the very essence of life. Lets change the world by deeply listening to our children. Doreen practically lays out unconventional steps, prayers and suggestions that will dramatically help parents and their little people. It brings to life the potential of awakening and living with purpose as we guide our children to find, uncover and unfold their individual gifts and purpose. This book brings to life the issues of our toxic environment, both the physical world and the metaphysical world, it brings to life the strong messages our children are giving us about the necessity of change. Did you know that most children diagnosed with ADD are actually gifted? How different would the world be if we nurtured those gifts instead of drugging them? People don't know this and follow the 'expert's' advice often times prescribing Ritalin. This book has clarified for me what my intuition has been telling me about me, my daughter and hopefully will give many parents relief in knowing that their ADHD or ADD children are here as instruments of change, not to be drugged as school or social system, family members and friends might be telling us to do. I'm so grateful for Doreen Virtue's courage to talk about Indigo's in such supportive ways. If you have a ever wondered if you are an Indigo, if you don't know what an 'Indigo' is, if you have a child that doesn't quite 'fit' into the norms of the social or school system, please read this book. Over the last 4 years, I've gained great perspective on all children based on Doreen's perspective. I read this book several times while pregnant and as a new mother. Thank you Doreen Virtue for the insights you offer - I was able to understand myself MUCH better than ever before and create space for understanding my daughter as her being unfolds. Much of the information is applicable to anyone - child or adult - regardless of aura colors or denomination. It contains an extensive bibliography and a short list of resources. Suggested prayers and affirmations are sprinkled throughout the book. 181) The interviewers' ages range from about 14-22, so a handful of the responses aren't terribly long or detailed. The interviews were conducted by the author's stepdaughter, in the belief that the interviewers would feel more comfortable speaking with a peer (p. The author includes quotes and interviews from AD(H)D/Indigo children themselves. The author also suggests specific vitamin and mineral supplements (p. The "Feeding" section of this book deals extensively in changing one's diet. There are a lot of great points about why these children don't fit into the mainstream school system, as well as suggestions for parents looking for an alternative to prescription drugs. If such things annoy you, or you don't believe in angels or similar beings, this might not be the best book for you. Throughout the book, the reader is expected to replace "God" with whichever "ascended master" s/he follows. The author comes from a Christian background she tries to keep her work nondenominational (p. The author stresses the importance of being outside in nature and participating in aerobic exercise - two things that I believe are lacking from most peoples' lifestyles. A lot of what we've learned in class is echoed in "The Care and Feeding of Indigo Children," such as the Ayruvedic doshas, the nutrition aspect, clearing one's self and space, raising vibrations, and performing Lightwork. Today, I'm a polarity student (I'm what the author might call a Somatic Experiencing therapist. As a teenager, a Reiki master friend of mine taught me about Indigo and Crystal children.
